The Allure of Aix-en-Provence, France
Amy Griffin Maffre
Aix-en-Provence is the city of water and art. With over 100 fountains, beautiful architecture and many artists, you will find plenty of things to do under the sunny Provence sky.

One of the largest parks in Aix, you will find plenty of walks, a creek, pétanque, a sports field and more. A great place for a picnic in the sun

Hungry? The Place des Cardeurs has a restaurant for nearly every palate. Most seating is outdoor, but if it is cool, there are heaters. A fun and lively atmosphere. Some of the restaurants require reservations, especially in the summer.

These are the best Madeleines on the planet! A variety of flavours, fresh from the oven, you absolutely must taste these treasures.

This cathedral was built over centuries. You will see different époques as you walk through the church. Free admission and definitely worth the visit!

Slightly hidden, this is where Cezanne painted Sainte Victoire. Some of the best views of the mountain and Aix. You can walk, about 15 minutes from Aix centre or take the bus, number 5 or 7.

Montagne Sainte-Victoire, France

A trip to wander the trails or hike up to the cross on top of Mont Saint Victoire is a must when you visit Aix. There is a bus from Aix centre that takes you there. Make sure to bring water, sun protection and wear comfortable shoes.

The main fountain in Aix at the start of the Cours Mirabeau is beautiful with plenty of cafés and bars.

One of my favourite fountains in Aix with four marble dolphins. As with many of the fountains in Aix, you can safely drink the water. The Granet Museum is just five minutes away by foot.
