Underrated (?) Colorado Springs Hit List
Liz Glaser
When I first visited Colorado Springs, I thought it was an underrated Colorado destination. I think the secret is getting out, but I still wanted to share an example itinerary. Especially great with kiddos in tow, given the proximity to the airport and the many kid friendly things to do. Enjoy!

this is one of those incredibly special small zoos you do not plan to visit - but you just happen to visit - because you realize there is a zoo and you have kids and its kind of a no brainer to kill some time at some point in the trip! :) they have summer camps that I hope to send the kiddos to at some point!

The railway was not open when we were there. We drove yikes! I would not suggest what we did - which was doing the drive with two kids before ANOTHER drive across colorado to our next destination at the time Breckinridge. I am also not a huge fan of these ... ah... adventurous drives! But my husband is and we survived :) Definitely doable if you do not want to take the railway!

What an easy way to get the kids or anyone - a dramatic experience - with totally accessible trails and walk ways. I am sure there a ton of hikes here and in the vicinity for more adventurous folks, but we were with a big group and kids of varying ages. Rock climbing opportunities were very accessible also and I would definitely book a lesson next time.

We have not been here, but is about an hour away so I thought I would include it as a possible addition
